I think all of us hate that this is a cultural commonplace incident. There's a problem when we're no longer surprised when this happens in south Augusta or Harrisburg. It's about more than law enforcement.
Richmond County sheriffs deputies said they charged two teens with armed robbery Wednesday after the holdup earlier this week of a former classmate near the 2400 block of Amsterdam Drive.
The 14-year-old victim said he was walking home from work when Vernon Lee Labord, 18, of Tad Court, and Marquell Eunice, 17, of Richmond Hill Road, stopped to talk to him, a sheriffs report said.
The suspects pulled out handguns and took $43 from the victim, the report said.

Lazy young scumbags taking money from some young person not afraid to work for his keep. Tells you a little about each one's upbringing I think.
hope????? change??????
20 years in prison, no parole for both of them. Punks, stupid low life scumbag punks. I am sure one of our fine judges will find socially redeeming qualities in these two and give them probation.
These are the same ones that took the dirt bike from the 17 year old in Meadowbrook. Vernon just graduated from Hepzibah High, he won't have to worry about a career now. Note to Vernon and Marquell- you stand a better chance of getting away with things if you don't rob people that know who you are-
patriciathomas.... I am no longer surprised when it happens anywhere. Columbia and Aiken counties are having many of these incidents also.
Jail time will just teach them more tricks of the trade. Sentence all of these young punks to community work. And I don't mean a week or two - make it a year or two - daily - clean up the community - make them do any type of work that can't be done due to the lack of funds. And the fresh air will do them good too.
The eyesore on Reynolds St. is a good example - decent citizens are volunteering their time. Make morons with time on their hands, so much time they have to hold up youngsters, do the work and then some. The opportunities for work are truly endless! I hope the Judges might see a lot of potential in a plan like this.
