ATHENS, Ga. -- As state and federal investigators help local officials find the cause of the fire that gutted the landmark Georgia Theatre in downtown Athens last week, a benefit concert is scheduled tonight to help the theater's staff.

The music club was damaged Friday. The first benefit came Saturday, when Perpetual Groove performed at the Classic Center. Tonight, The Whigs, Dead Confederate and The New Familiars will perform beginning at 7 at the Melting Point in the Foundry Park Inn, 295 E. Dougherty St.

Tickets are $10 online at www.meltingpointathens.com. In addition, The Melting Point will donate $1 for every Terrapin beer sold through July 31 to benefit Georgia Theatre employees.
