Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker will return to Augusta at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, performing a solo show in support of his successful country album Learn to Live.

Tickets for the Belle Auditorium show are $37.50-$45.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Rucker is a regular visitor to Augusta, having performed with Hootie and the Blowfish four times at the annual Drive For Show, Rock Fore! Dough benefit concert held every April during Masters Week.

The August date will be Mr. Rucker’s first solo show in Augusta.

Mr. Rucker released "Learn to Live" in September 2008. Since its release, the album has produced two singles ("Don’t Think I Don’t Know About It" and "It Won’t Be Like This For Long") that have reached No. 1 on the Billboard magazine country charts, and another ("Alright") that is currently in the Top Ten.

Don't forget that Hootie and the Blowfish used to perform regularly at The Post Office on Washington Road in the late 80's and early 90's.

El Guapo

I wonder what his tee time at the National is that day...

Must be slummin if he is playing Augusta.. times must be hard for Rucker.

DEVGRU

Times aren't hard for anyone with a number 1 country song. He's moving up in country music. Another Charlie Pride. He's quite good.

Where have you been?
Hootie and the Blowfish play Augusta alot, so why shouldn't Darius Rucker come play for his Country Fans?
His album is at the top of the charts. Soon he will be carrying home CMT,ACM awards. He has a wonderful voice. He is the next best thing to Charlie Pride.

HillGuy

the token black guy in country music.. atleast Charlie Pride now has company.

Many black singers won't sing country because of peer pressure within their community, but there are many black country fans and many good black country singers. While Charlie Pride showed a black can be successful in the country field, Darius Rucker will lead a parade of new black singers to the country charts. Or, maybe it's Obama breaking into the presidency, who knows, but I expect to see plenty of new singers of color on the country charts from now on. I, for one, welcome the influx and influence.

^^^ Bull, PT. The black community doesn't dictate what every member of the race chooses to do. There have been and always will be blacks in country music and those that enjoy it. Is country as popular in the Black Community? No. Does that stem from peer pressure from blacks to stay away from it, no. The record company's do a fine job of that. Such an absurd assertion on a subject you know nothing about. Not to mention the article had absolutely nothing to do with the number of blacks in country music. Anything to bring race into, right?

Music is one true universal language. It is a natural language. It can be harmonious. It can be dissonant. Music knows no color.
