Atlantic Broadband today announced that it is adding 14 high definition channels to its Aiken area line up.

Effective today these channels have been added to the HD tier: Fox News, CNN, The History Channel, National Geographic, ABC Family, Lifetime, Food Network, HGTV, F/X, Bravo, CNBC, Science Channel, The Weather Channel and Encore.

“With Nielsen research showing that more than one out of three homes now have at least one HDTV, the time is right to dramatically expand our HD line-up,” said Atlantic Broadband Vice President and General Manager Sam McGill. "These new channels bring our total HD offering to 45 channels, and they are just the first in a surge of coming additions that will totally remake our HD service.”

Effective today, the company is also eliminating its $12 HD Extra Tier, instead making those channels available to more HD customers at no additional cost as part of the value and digital service tiers.

Atlantic Broadband serves 21,000 South Carolina customers in Aiken, Barnwell, Bamberg and Allendale counties.
