SENECA, S.C. — A woman has been found shot to death at a closed medical clinic in northwestern South Carolina, where a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Media outlets reported today that the 29-year-old was found dead at the Upstate Pain Management & Surgery Center in Seneca on Saturday afternoon. A man whose name has not been released was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital. Police said he was in critical condition Sunday.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the victim was Karla M. Benson, of Newry, northeast of Seneca.

Seneca Police Chief John Covington says officers were called by a doctor who had stopped by the clinic to drop off office items and found the man. Police found the woman in a storage room.

Chief Covington says officers found two handguns.
