Rodney Wade Grubbs, 40, pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of theft by taking and three counts of first degree forgery at a Columbia County arraignment hearing.
Mr. Grubbs, of the 1400 block of Aylesbury Drive, is accused of bilking four investors out of nearly $500,000 from January to Augusta of 2008.
Mr. Grubbs told investors he would use their money to purchase hotel rooms and tickets to concerts and sporting events, including the Super Bowl, the Ryder Cup, the Masters Tournament and the Kentucky Derby. He claimed to have third-party buyers for the packages.
He also faces the forgery charges for falsifying contracts from a hotel and a ticket brokerage company and for writing a falsified letter from a bank.
Police arrested Mr. Grubbs Feb. 9. He is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center on a $235,400 bond, according to jail personnel.
A trial date has not yet been set.
