Jessye Normans July 31 fundraiser concert at St. Pauls Episcopal Church will be a homecoming for the opera legend and for some of the artists she has invited to share the stage.
Among the guest artists are John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School graduate Damien Sneed, today an in-demand composer, conductor and pianist; and jazz trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, a native of Waynesboro, Ga.
Other artists scheduled to perform are Tony-nominated actress/singer DeAndre Aziz (Passing Strange), and Ms. Normans regular performance partner, pianist Mark Markham.
The concert, benefiting the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 31. Tickets are $100 general admission and $35 for high school and college students. Jessye Norman School students and one parent or guardian will be admitted free. Admission includes a champagne reception after the performance. A picture of Mrs Rosa Harris Sanders should be placed on the stage.
Homecoming I wonder will she stop by Laney.
