GREENSBORO, Ga. - Brian Carter, of Evans, shot 70 today and is tied for seventh in the 15-18 division of the Southern Junior Golf Championship at Reynolds Landing.

Carter is at 1-under 143 after two rounds of the 54-hole event, four shots behind leader Jade Scott, of Daingerfield, Texas.

One other local golfer is in the top 20.

Dykes Harbin, of Augusta, shot 71 and is tied for 16th at 147.

Scott used a birdie on the 17th hole to take a one-stroke lead over Will Pearson, of Memphis, Tenn.

Scott's 6-iron to the par-3 17th lipped the cup, leaving him with a birdie putt.

Pearson took sole possession of second place with a birdie-eagle-birdie run on the back nine.
