AIKEN - Aiken County sheriff's deputies and South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers arrested a man who fled after a traffic stop today.

The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. today near Veterans Road in the Wagener area, said Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Scot Edgeworth.

He said that a trooper stopped a man in a 2005 Dodge pickup for speeding at 12:50 p.m. The man was apprehended a little after 5:30 p.m., he said.

Gregory Dicks, 28, was charged with speeding, but other charges are pending, Lance Cpl. Edgeworth said.

He said earlier that contraband was found after the stop, but he would not elaborate tonight.
