Thunderstorm chance this afternoon

There is a chance of thunderstorms over the region this afternoon, according to a forecast from the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Ga.

According to the weather service Storm Prediction center, the current weather pattern continues to remain favorable for the development of thunderstorms throughout Georgia with the potential for some of them in northern Georgia to become severe.

The primary hazards from thunderstorms that become severe today will be damaging winds, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and possibly some hail.

Thunderstorms are expected to be more numerous in the north this afternoon and could remain through the evening.

Partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the 90s are predicted through the week.
