Man reports robbery at motel

A Millen, Ga., man told police he was the victim of an armed robbery in the parking lot of Augusta Super Inn at 1602 Gordon Highway on Saturday.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, Hilman Childs Jr.,54, told officers that he was flagged down in the parking lot of the motel by a woman about 9:30 p.m. When he stopped a man struck him in the back of the head with a handgun, he said.

Mr. Childs was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.

The robbers escaped with about $930 in cash, a Verizon cell phone and personal checks, he said.

Although I agree that if you have that kind of cash on you then you are probably in the wrong area or there for the wrong reasons. That being said, it is no excuse for these violent thugs that will be caught and punished. Crimes are ridiculous in the CSRA right now but the good thing is that 95% of these violent criminals are getting caught. Hopefully our judicial system will do its job and put these thugs away for as long as possible.
