A Millen, Ga., man told police he was the victim of an armed robbery in the parking lot of Augusta Super Inn at 1602 Gordon Highway on Saturday.
According to a Richmond County sheriffs report, Hilman Childs Jr.,54, told officers that he was flagged down in the parking lot of the motel by a woman about 9:30 p.m. When he stopped a man struck him in the back of the head with a handgun, he said.
Mr. Childs was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.
The robbers escaped with about $930 in cash, a Verizon cell phone and personal checks, he said.
