More than 1,000 people have cast ballots this week in advance voting for Tuesday's sales tax referendum, according to Lynn Bailey, the executive director of the Richmond County Board of Elections.

On Thursday, 342 people voted, bringing the week's total to 1,226. That's in addition to 566 voters who cast ballots in early voting, which started May 9 and ended June 5.

Today is the last day for advance voting at the elections board's main office in the Municipal Building on Greene Street, the Henry Brigham Community Center on Golden Camp Road and the Warren Road Community Center.
