AIKEN -- The Aiken County Board of Education will hold a public hearing on the tentative budget as part of its meeting Tuesday.

The current budget does not include $6.9 million in stimulus funds Gov. Mark Sanford will sign for today. Board members are expected to discuss needed budget changes during the meeting.

The school board will also hold an executive session before the meeting to discuss contracts for non-certified employees, according to Bill Burkhalter, school district attorney. He said district officials are trying to fit the final pieces of the hiring puzzle together.

The 7 p.m. meeting will be held at 1000 Brookhaven Drive in Aiken. Participants should sign up to speak before 7 p.m. Budget information can be found at www.aiken.k12.sc.us.
