An 81-year-old Jefferson County man who suffers from dementia and had been missing since Friday afternoon was found tonight.
Jefferson County sheriff's Lt. Robert Chalker said Elmer Lane was found about 8:30 p.m. in a wooded area about two miles east of his home.
"Lane is in good condition considering his ordeal," Lt. Chalker said.
He was taken to Jefferson Hospital in Louisville, Ga.
"I got a feeling they're going to keep him overnight for observation," he said.
Authorities from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County EMA, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Jefferson County Fire Departments and Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division spent all day Saturday searching for Mr. Lane.
A ground search resumed at 7:30 a.m. today.
An 82 year old man with dementia needs 24/7 care. I hope he's found soon....alive.
I'll be praying for his safe return and keeping an eye out for him. I hope he keeps that hat on, he'll be easier to find.
Well, good. Not only is he found, but he's actually a year younger after his ordeal.
