The longtime state representative from Perry says he's leaving to pursue opportunities he describes as not being compatible with continued service on the board. He did not elaborate on the statement made Thursday by e-mail to the governor and other officials.
Walker will depart June 30 after more than two years on the board. The board is also changing, after the Legislature removed some of the board's power.
Board members are elected by state legislators by congressional district. A replacement will have to be elected from the 8th Congressional District.
