AIKEN -- Aiken County high school graduations begin this evening. Ridge Spring-Monetta High School will hold ceremonies in the school gym at 6 p.m.

Midland Valley and Silver Bluff high schools ceremonies will be held at the University of South Carolina Aiken’s Convocation Center. Midland Valley will begin at 5 p.m. and Silver Bluff will begin at 8 p.m.

The district’s five largest high schools moved their ceremonies off campus for the first time ever to accommodate growing senior classes and ticket demand. About 3,500 seats are available at the Convocation Center versus 1,500 or less at each of the schools.

Look for a story detailing the affects of the ceremonies’ new venue in Friday’s Augusta Chronicle.
