Richmond County sheriff's deputies continue to investigate the Wednesday night attack on a woman in an MCG Hospital restroom, and said he might be the same man linked to a waiting room theft on the same floor last week.

They released security camera photos that show Wednesday night's assault suspect. They also released other photos that show a May 29 theft suspect.

Investigators are asking the public's help in identifying the man pictured in the photos.

According to a statement released by sheriff's investigators, a 63-year-old woman said she was assaulted about 8:40 p.m. in a fourth floor restroom at MCG.

Her assailant was armed with a large steak knife, but fled when another person entered the restroom, authorities said.

If you have any information, please contact the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080 or 706-821-1020

Go figure, MCG security is

Go figure, MCG security is too worried about somebody parking in the wrong deck, crooked in a parking spot, wrong parking spot, or wrong type of car in parking place. All they know how to do is put a parking ticket on your car. Worthless. They need to be worried about monitoring people who walk in and out of that place.I worked there...there are all kinds of homeless people in there aimlessly roaming. He's probably still in there lurking.....

You cannot place cameras IN the restrooms. Outside yes, but then you have hallways, stairwells and other out of the way areas. I thought the doors were secured after 9:30 PM?

Calm down colcamp1, Fiat Lux

Calm down colcamp1, Fiat Lux was commenting on your post about not being able to place cameras IN the restrooms. Fiat was being humorous when he/she said they needed to place them in all the women's bathrooms and be monitored continuously. He/she was not making fun of someone's being assualted. Lightening up a little and quit being so defensive.

Obviously making a posiitve ID from this picture isn't easy, but if you were at MCG Wednesday evening you might have seen this guy and be able to recognize him from this and be able to provide police with additional information.

Maybe MCG should do what the

Maybe MCG should do what the main library does. Keep rest room doors locked. Let one at a time get the key, but they have to leave their keys with the person at the desk.

Doors are usually locked....but if you are in before the shut down...who is to say to can't hide out in there. About the only areas you can't get in are Peds,ICU's, and the cafeteria for the doctors.

There are many, many places

There are many, many places that someone lurking to do harm could be. MCG security does the best that they can but sometimes a perp is just going to find theirselves involved in meaniness no matter how much protection you try to give. Honestly folks this could have happened at any hospital or venue.

A very unfortunate incident,

A very unfortunate incident, and I hope that the victim is okay. What I would like to comment on though is the immediate bashing that the public starts on the security department. They can't be everywhere at once, and cameras are useful, but unless you have a set of eyes to monitor every camera you are not going to catch every single thing. Nobody is 100% safe ANYWHERE (homes, schools, churches, retail areas, etc.) and I will take a place that offers security personnel over no security personnel anyday. I am tired of the insults that are always directed at the security at places like MCG and the mall, I believe these people do the best they can, with the resources that are available to them. We all should be vigilant and aware of our surroundings every second of the day, and be looking out for each other as well, as I will state again, security & law enforcement can't be everywhere at once.

Oh, and TinkerbelFan, (which by the way I love the screen name) I work at MCG...it is now 3:05 PM, and no employee has been sent any email, received any telephone call or anything about this happening. Why wasn't the employees alerted so we could be more aware. We feel safe here.

fatpants1828- I can't tell

fatpants1828- I can't tell you why you have not received any email or notifications, as I have no idea what their protocal or procedures are for serious incidents such as these. My point is it could happen ANYWHERE, and again I will say that I will feel safer in a place where there is security, as opposed to somewhere that does not have security. Can you imagine the incidents that would occur at your place if there were no security at all?

The article is incorrect

The article is incorrect because the assault happened around 7 pm yesterday. I was working at the hospital at the time and the security first checked all the the construction companies to see where every employee was working at the time of the assault. Another way I can prove that it was before 10:30 is that there is still sunlight coming through the window in the picture of the man.
