The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man this afternoon on burglary charges, according to Cpl. Robbie Harter with the Sheriff’s Office.

Robert Anthony Webber was arrested after officers chased him from the scene of a burglary at Republican and Martintown roads.

Officers responded to a call of suspicious activity at 700 block of Republican Road about 1:30 p.m. A red Ford Mustang connected to other burglaries in the Merriwether area was at the home.

When officers approached Mr. Webber, who was holding household items, he dropped the items and ran into the woods.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division were called in for backup.

About an hour later, a resident on Garrett Road saw Webber and held him at gunpoint until an officer arrived to arrest him.

Mr. Harter said additional charges could be filed after further investigation.

I am very surprised they did not have too pick him up in a Body Bag. I have been looking for the last few weeks well I would probably laid that one to rest and answered questions later.
