A man who allegedly robbed an elderly couple at gunpoint was charged with two counts of armed robbery today.

John Brandon Kitchens, 27, of 3097 Parrish Road, held the victims at gunpoint and stole a pocketbook, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.

One of the victims said that he and his 72-year-old wife gave Mr. Kitchens a ride home from their church because they knew his mother and family, the report said. As they neared Brendell Drive at Brians Way, Mr. Kitchens pointed a handgun at the woman’s neck and stole the purse, the report said.
