Two people have drowned this afternoon in separate incidents, one of them a child, according to local authorities.

A child drowned near the Boathouse on Riverfront Drive, according to a sargeant with the Georgia State Patrol. The Richmond County Coroner has been called to the scene. No other information was available.

The other drowning occurred near a boat ramp off Hammond's Ferry Road in North Augusta. A teenage boy drowned about 3 p.m., according to authorities. A friend that was with the teen survived, said authorities.
