ATLANTA — A single winner from New York State has taken the $35 million grand prize from the multistate Mega Millions lottery.

The ticket sold in Onondaga County, N.Y., was the only one to match all winning numbers from Friday night's drawing.

The next Mega Millions drawing, Tuesday night, will feature a grand prize of $12 million.

In addition to the grand prize winner, four players won second prizes of $250,000 apiece. None of those tickets were sold in Illinois. Another 21, players, including two from Illinois, won third prizes of $10,000 apiece.

The winning numbers from Friday night's drawing were: 23, 30, 36, 39, and 48. The Mega Ball number was 34.

Who cares? Lottery players

Who cares? Lottery players know that the GA Lottery only offers a small percentage of winners in the Augusta area anyway. 90% of lottery winners are in Atlanta or within a 25 mile radius of Atlanta. So, AC use this space for something of importance--the GA lottery is certainly rigged. Or maybe you can do a story on whether winners are produced closer to the GA Lottery corporate office or farthest from the corporate office. Hint-Hint: The economy is more stable in an area that produce more winners.

Sorry Opinionated, but your

Sorry Opinionated, but your opinion isn't valid. There was a major winner from the Savannah area not that long ago. The last time I looked at a map Savannah was more than 25 miles from ATL. There have been several Cash5 winners in the Augusta area over the years as well. Stop whining about not winning and just go buy another ticket.........
