TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Former Greenbrier standout Rich Poythress hit three of Georgia's seven home runs as the Bulldogs cruised to a 24-6 NCAA regional-opening victory over Ohio State today.

Matt Cerione and Joey Lewis each homered twice as Georgia (38-22) withstood a five-hour weather delay before setting season highs for runs and hits.

Cerione and Lewis homered in Georgia's eight-run first inning.

The Bulldogs battered Big Ten co-pitcher of the year Alex Wimmers for 10 runs in four innings. Wimmers (9-2) walked seven and allowed four homers as the Buckeyes (40-18) suffered their third consecutive defeat.
