GreenJackets tickets going fast for Smoltz appearance

After learning of John Smoltz’s scheduled appearance at Lake Olmstead Stadium on Thursday night in a rehab assignment with the Greenville Drive, the Augusta GreenJackets front office began preparations today for a large fan turnout.

“This is a guaranteed first-ballot Hall of Famer,” GreenJackets broadcasting and media relations director Eric Little said. “It’s going to be a big one.”

GreenJackets general manager Nick Brown said the Lake Olmstead Stadium box office received 12 phone calls within the first 15 minutes of opening today, and he expects ticket sales to continue to increase from the 655 that were sold in the first four hours this morning.

“They’re already going fast,” Brown said. “We expect more of this and a big walk up crowd on Thursday. If people want to make sure they get a chance to see John Smoltz, they better get tickets early.”

Due to the high demand, the season ticket exchange policy won’t be permitted for Thursday’s game. Tickets are available online at GreenJacketsBaseball.com and by calling the GreenJackets box office at (706) 922-9467.
