David Robinson survived a sudden-death playoff today to earn a spot in a sectional qualifier for June’s U.S. Open at Bethpage Black in Farmington, N.Y.

The Sandersville, Ga., pro finished in a seven-way tie for fifth place in a local qualifier at The River Club in Suwanee, Ga. Four spots were up for grabs in the playoff, and Robinson got one of them with a par on the first hole.

Former Georgia Southern golfer Blake Adams, of Eatonton, Ga., was the medalist with 68.
