Dick Smith Chrysler Jeep to close June 3

Dick Smith Chrysler Jeep will be shutting down in Aiken on June 3, a week before Chrysler’s date when the dealer’s contract to sell new cars will be revoked.

Sales manager Jason Styron said the dealerships 15 employees are “winding things down and doing inventory.”

No decisions had been made about how to get rid of its cars. Initially, the owner was going to remain open as a used car dealership, but he has changed his mind, Mr. Styron said.

Dick Smith Chrysler Jeep was among two area dealers listed in Chrysler’s bankruptcy court filing Thursday asking a court judge to revoke franchise agreements so that it can reduce the number of U.S. dealers by a quarter.
