Boy struck by car downtown

A 17-year-old Augusta boy was struck by a car while crossing the intersection of Broad and Fifth streets this afternoon, police said. The boy, whose name was not released, was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment.

Cpl. Russell Schaffer of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office said that he didn’t know how serious the victim's injuries were and that he could face charges for improperly crossing the intersection.
