Gay rights advocates to protest SC date violence bill

COLUMBIA — Gay rights advocates are protesting the exclusion of gay and lesbian relationships from a South Carolina bill meant to curb teen dating violence.

Democratic Reps. Gilda Cobb-Hunter of Orangeburg and Ken Kennedy of Greeleyville are among those criticizing last week's vote in the House to bar any mention of gays from the proposed program for middle and high school students.

They plan to join members of the South Carolina Progressive Network and the local chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays on Tuesday to protest the amended bill. It requires another vote before moving to the Senate.

Republican Greg Delleney of Chester said he pushed for the change because he believes it would lead to school officials teaching children about same-sex relationships.

If it's so natural then why can't a man-man or woman-woman conceive a child? Is that not the natural cycle of life? I don't hate anyone, but you can't make me see why gay marriage should be acceptable. When the day comes that a woman can impregnate another woman and a man can "naturally" impregnate another man then I'll agree with it.

So many of you claim not to hate but your writings prove different. So many of you are quick to quote the bible but do you quote it when it says that a woman will be stoned to death if she is not a virgin when she marries and why isn't it mention in the bible about lesbians. Do you all know the quote about "rightly dividing the word of truth". As I've stated previously you can't pick and choose what you want to believe in parts of the bible. Show a phase about homosexuality and I'm sure it can be interpreted differently than what you do.

The matter of conception is by no means an argument as to why two people that love each other should be togther...if that is the case anyone that has a hysterectomy should be taken out of the "available for mating" pool or when a woman stops ovulating, time to move on to more fruitful prospects....that is what was said to warrent that comment, I just didn't think you needed it spelled out.

and what of the women that unable to ovulate? should they be prohibited from marrying and perhaps adopting? then why wouldn't those same options be afforded to couples of same sex relationships? simply put, because the same options are not afforded those in same sex relationships, or that same sex relationships are excluded from certain protections, is descrimination..

TakeAstand, why shouldn't you have to explain why two men are kissing in the park...I'm sure you've got to explain the same thing for a straight couple engaged in a PSA. What if you see someone wearing a turban and bowing to Mecca...or a yarmulke and peyas...or a monk's robe...don't you feel the need to explain THAT? The fact is, you DO NOT HAVE THE "RIGHT" to choose not to "expose" your children to cultures that differ from your own--not if that means infringing on others' right to simply "be" and live as you live (kissing in the park and all).

Amazing how so many of you promoting the gay lifestyle so quickly jump to conclusions, accusing those who disagree with you as being Christians, conservatives, married to the opposite sex, and right-wingers. Today our young people are being bombarded with gay images.
Don't belive me watch MTV for an hour. It's being force fed. The goal is to make the shock go away. make it seem like a part of everyday life. Some of us are to smart though.
