Accused murder Rebecca Sears leaves the courtroom, followed by her attorney Victor Hawk, after her arraignment on murder charges and bond hearing.

Rebecca Bowers Sears, 41, and her son, Christopher Sean Bowers, 20, pleaded not guilty to murder, armed robbery and burglary charges at an arraignment hearing in the Columbia County Justice Center.

Mrs. Sears, of 227 Hot Spring Drive, and Mr. Bowers, of the 4000 block of Briarwood Drive in Martinez, are accused in the fatal beating of Laverne “Kay” Parsons, Ms. Sears’ next-door neighbor and co-worker, on March 25.

District Attorney Ashley Wright has said she plans to seek the death penalty.

Attorneys and prosecutors will meet July 7 to hear motions before a trial begins. No trial date has been set.

If there was ever a time when

If there was ever a time when we should enact "an eye for an eye". I still want to tie them on top of two fire ant mounds, somewhere hot. May they rot in "you know where"...!! NO PLEA DEALS !!!!

I still can't understand how

I still can't understand how seemingly "normal" people do things like this. How can someone rationalize wanting to murder their friend/neighbor/co-worker? And to seek the assistance of your child in this crime is beyond fathomable.

Tie them to the chair and

Tie them to the chair and make them pay by throwing the switch. Start out with a nice slow current then give it more juice every minute until there insides cook. It was down right savage what they done. They should die the way Mrs. Parsons died I would pay to take a swing at them. No good white redneck trash...And yes I am white

I still can't believe how she

I still can't believe how she got her son involved in this, it is bad enough that she apparently hated the woman but to involve your child and have his life taken away is disgraceful. I am not condoning him at all but if not for his mother he would still be living his life and not looking at a lifetime in jail or the electric chair. She is apparently a crazy evil witch.

Are you kidding? The

Are you kidding? The publicity hound, greedy lawyers would never allow a guilty plea. There is months of publicity and notoriety to be milked from this case, maybe even national exposure. Doing the right thing does not seem to enter into the practice of law.

The lawyer must already know

The lawyer must already know the make-up of the jury. The not guilty plea is insane.

What on earth will be their

What on earth will be their defense? That space aliens landed, took control of thier "brains" and commanded them to brutally kill their neighbor and former friend? Because if it isn't that, then there is no other explaination that could come close to exonerating them. It sends chills down my spine that psychotics like these two are probably walking among us every time we go to Kroger, or McDonalds, or wherever.

Im pretty sure the hawk bros.

Im pretty sure the hawk bros. are not public defenders and so thankfully our tax dollars are not going to defend these 2 pieces of trash. The hawks must know something we don't to not try to plead this out. Ms. Wright will have a field day with these 2

Those who ask how they could

Those who ask how they could do it; the answer is usually demonic influence. Jesus was constantly casting demons out of people and some are busy doing that today. Apparently they liked their demons and fed them a steady diet of pride and anger. The Word says, "where there is strife and envy there is every evil work". All battles begin in the spiritual realm and end in the natural.

Why did they do it. I've read and re-read articles trying to find out if they printed a reason. Something is being kept in the dark.

I understand now the

I understand now the attorneys are going to request that mother and son be tried separately. It appears the mother may believe she is somehow less guilty than the son.
