ATHENS, Ga. -- Athens-Clarke workers still are cleaning up the city more than two months after a major snowstorm knocked over hundreds of trees and left debris everywhere.

The cleanup effort should wrap up by the end of the month. It is expected to cost taxpayers more than $100,000.

Solid Waste Director Jim Corley his department, which is responsible for leaf-and-limb pickup, had enough manpower for the job but lacked enough trucks.

The county has contracted with private companies to lease five trucks for four weeks at a total cost of $66,000, he said.
