Two men wounded in pair of Aiken County shootings

Authorities are investigating a pair of shootings in Aiken County today that sent two men to an area hospital.

Brandon Bert, 20, was in fair condition at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics after being shot in the ear and back, said Aiken County Sheriff’s Capt. Troy Elwell. Around 11:30 a.m., two men in a silver sedan fired multiple rounds at the Mr. Bert, who was arguing with them in front of his home in the 100 block of Liberty Hill Road in North Augusta , Capt. Elwell said.

Police are looking for two black men, one heavy set and one with a slim build .

Several hours later, Ray McMillan, 31, was shot once in the upper back about 8:53 p.m. after he left the Lucky Seven convenience store in Aiken. Witnesses say Mr. McMillan saw a man he had argued with earlier in the day and ran back into the store in the 1100 block of Hampton Avenue, Capt. Elwell said. The suspect followed him inside and shot him once with a silver handgun, Capt. Elwell said. Mr. McMillan was taken to MCG after the shooting, but the officer did not know his condition.

Police have a person of interest in this shooting, but are not yet releasing his name.
