Polly wants his owner.

Columbia County Animal Care and Control workers today captured a bright green parrot after an Evans woman found it dining at her bird feeder.

Columbia County Emergency and Operations Director Pam Tucker said the Windmill Plantation resident called animal control when she saw the exotic bird, and it flew under her deck when the workers arrived. They finally managed to capture it and take it to the Appling facility, where it is being kept in an indoor cage.

“It just came in, so they will hold it for the customary five days for the owner to claim it,” Tucker said.

Anyone missing a parrot can call the facility at(706) 541-4077.

I lost a green parrot a long

I lost a green parrot a long time back after a really damaging storm but that was a long way from where the bird was found. The bird was a cherry-headed conure, female, no leg band. It would be about six years old now.

The bird could have been set

The bird could have been set free by a heart broken owner because of the economy. It costs a lot to keep a Parrot fed and healthy. Or it could have been passing through on the way to greener pastures.
