For anyone interested in lending a hand to President Obama, Organizing for America will stop in Augusta on Saturday as part of its nationwide “listening tours,” where supporters and volunteers talk about how to organize locally to support the president’s agenda.

The meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at Ma Fannie’s Kitchen, 1117 Laney Walker Blvd.

Organizing for America is a project of the Democratic National Committee. According to a news release, the group will also talk about “the best way to provide Americans with the tools to make their voices heard in Washington and help bring about the long-term change voters asked for so overwhelmingly last November.”

While this thread has

While this thread has devolved from the original topic, I just want to acknowledge this meeting of supporters has as much right to meet peaceably and safely as any other group. I wish them peace and safety and hope they enjoy their gathering. Those who would wish to supplant our current POTUS would note carefully how successful his tactics are and would do well to emulate them.

Ever notice how when Liberals

Ever notice how when Liberals are confronted with facts, they immediately launch into ad hominem attacks? I guess since they have real point to make, it's easy to attack someone personally by calling them names. Typical.

ITDOC... whoever said they

ITDOC... whoever said they didn't have the right to meet peaceably? I don't ever remember seeing such a comment made. Typical straw man tactic liberals like to use to accuse the other side of something they never said to begin with. Obama is a master of this technique.

HillGuy: change "liberal" to

HillGuy: change "liberal" to "stupid" and you've got it. Stupid conservatives do the same thing. Our country's problems are not caused by liberalism or conservatism but by the lack of intelligence of the majority. I'd also point out only stupid people will allow their real identities to be connected to blog identities. Stupid people don't want to protect their privacy, so they don't think anyone else should be able to do so. Stupid people cannot achieve success beyond their wildest dreams, so they wish to gain that success by any means available. Stupid is a choice. They must learn to deal with the results of that choice.

ITDOC... whoever said they didn't have the right to meet peaceably?... I was expressing my desire for a peaceful meeting. It was not a response to any one comment. The "Taxed Enough Already" gathering was villified by the opposition, I wish to take the high road.

Still confused ReasonRules.

Still confused ReasonRules. Subsidy is not unemployment. That's insurance paid by the employee. Why do you lefties have to grope and misconstrue to make a point. Government subsidy is something for nothing. Welfare, social security when you've never paid into it, free housing, free medical, free food, free utilities. You know, stuff paid for by tax payers and not paid for by freeloaders. A gift to assure you vote "right". Dems, so to speak. All I'm saying, if you're voting for a free ride when you're already getting a free ride, you're no friend of America. Punishing the productive is just stupid. I think supporting this point of view says a lot about the left.

PT: After careful research, I can tell you ReasonRules is a most misleading screen name. I've read her writings, reviewed her history, and will tell you your wasting keystrokes. I assure you her parents and most of her associations throughout her life would agree with you. AC policy prevents me from disclosing why she works so hard against her upbringing.

1776. So old school. Only white men had any say so about everything important. Look where that led us to. The Civil War. So.. are u folks that believe only tax payers be allowed to vote also want to turn back the clock on slavery and ol' Jim Crow too?

Tax payers being able to

Tax payers being able to vote would be a pretty good idea. If you don't have monetary interest in what is going on, why should you have a right to say what those who do should have to pay out? Long time ago, those who were on the receiving end were in the minority. We are now approaching the 50/50 and above point. If you are a taxpayer, you should be alarmed.

Erayzer, the slavery of

Erayzer, the slavery of pre-civil was not voluntary. Today's slavery, as represented by the government subsidized that do as they're told to keep their subsidy coming, are slaves by choice. Those that choose to pay their own way and be responsible and accountable for their actions and choices are called Uncle Tom and Aunt Jamima if they don't speak out in support of the self induced slaves. Or they're called greedy and hate filled and racists if they don't seek to support the self induced slaves. There's some twisted ugly on the political left of this country and, right now, our country is paying a heavy price for it. 2010 and 2012 sure look a long way off right now.

Why is it the libs resort to name-calling instead of facts? PT said it, the libs have been walking around with a chip on their shoulder and now they want to push their agenda on the rest of us and make it so that anyone that speaks against them is an "extremist". The libs don't even trust veterans...

PT, as ReasonRules suggested

PT, as ReasonRules suggested what if I'm a taxpayer for 35 years and now with this economic downturn I'm unemployed and have to get by on unemployment compensation and some EBT assistance from DFACS for a short while. Does that make me none void at the voting booth? So while I get any kind of assistance I can't vote. Is that the point u want to make? The constitution says that if you're above 18, male or female, a citizen, and registered you can vote. Alot of the farmers from GA, SC, Iowa, Texas, Mississipp and other statesi who are probably Republican get government subsidies and assistance so exclude them? Or because they pay taxes and get government help affords them the right to vote?

IT Doc, I have no idea what you're talking about. Just because my father was a Republican doesn't mean I would be one. My mother's side of the family has always been pro-Union Democrats. So, I don't know what you think you know about me, but you obviously don't.
