Richmond, Columbia, Burke and McDuffie counties are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

Stormy weather was expected to linger today in Atlanta.

On Sunday, authorities said at least four funnel clouds were spotted in northwest Georgia and power was knocked out to about 10,000 customers around the Atlanta-metro area as a line of strong storms moved through.

A Georgia Power spokesman said that as of 10 p.m. Sunday all but about 1,600 customers had their electricity back. Most of the remaining outages were concentrated in Tucker and Decatur.
