An Augusta woman who attempted to shoot her ex-husband Monday but struck 60-year-old Betty Moss instead is in jail tonight.

Alice Fulmer, 54, had been under observation at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital after she wrecked her Chevy Blazer while trying to flee from the scene of the shooting. Richmond County Sheriff’s jail committals show she was booked into the jail at 5:44 p.m. tonight on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Authorities believe Ms. Moss jumped in the path of the gunfire. She remains in stable condition at MCG for a gunshot wound to her abdomen, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Ken Rogers.
