An Augusta man was caught removing air conditioning units from a radio tower near Helsinki Drive today, police said.

Anthony Rucker, 32, of the 2300 block of Prague Court, was arrested by deputies after a neighbor saw him and three others pushing a wheelbarrow full of metal, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s report.

The suspect allegedly removed two air-conditioning units which cool amplifying equipment in a nearby radio tower, according to Sheriff’s Investigator Kendall Brown.

“He pretty much ripped out the whole wall to take the AC units out,” Investigator Brown said.

Police suspect he was planning to rip the copper from the machines in order to resell it for cash. Mr. Rucker is charged with two counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree. Two other people were released without charges.

If the tower was hot, too bad he didn't get electrocuted. Hey Anthony -- get a real job. How will he pay for the potential damage to the transmitter equipment ??
