Three people fatally shot at Athens theater; UGA professor sought

ATHENS, Ga. – Authoritites say three people were fatally shot and another wounded in a shooting at an Athens theater. A University of Georgia professor is being sought in connection with the shooting.

Athens-Clarke County Assistant Police Chief Alan Brown told the Athens Banner-Herald that the marketing professor George Zinkhan is a suspect in the shooting Saturday afternoon at the Athens Community Theatre.

The university Web site said Dr. Zinkhan is a white male in his mid 50s with a goatee or beard, and that he ws last seen wearing a polo shirt, blue shorts, and a backpack.

Chief Brown said there is an indication that he might be carrying multiple weapons.
