U.S. Amateur semifinalist transfers to Augusta State

Patrick Reed, who advanced to the U.S. Amateur semifinals last year, signed his papers today to transfer from the University of Georgia to Augusta State. A three-time American Junior Golf Association All-American, Reed is the No. 40 amateur in the world, according to Golfweek magazine.

Reed qualified for three of Georgia’s four fall tournaments; he missed qualifying for the other event because of strep throat. He posted a 74.56 stroke average with his best finish 21st at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship.

Reed has posted two top-10 finishes in three amateur events this year.
