The owners of Poblano’s Mexican Grill are opening their second Columbia County location on Tuesday.

Poblano’s will initially employ 18 to 20 workers at 341 Baston Road, said owner Tony Onate, who also owns the three Augusta area Monterrey Mexican restaurants.

“It’s a growing area. On this side, you don’t have a whole lot of restaurants,” Mr. Onate said. “It’s in a great location. It’s on the corner, so it’s pretty visible.”

The 5,000-square foot Baston Road building was formerly the location of Loco's Grill and Pub.

Mr. Onate and his brother, Juan Onate, opened their first Poblano’s restaurant in 2005 at 7005 Evans Town Center Blvd. They also have one in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Poblano’s serves Tex-Mex and traditional Mexican cuisine.

Go to San Jose's inside the Mexican grocery by Weinberger's. It's very authentic and you'll be the only non-Latino in the place. Yum.

Got that right, Bryt. I eat there or get take out almost every week. Very good food. But, they jacked up their prices a few months back which cooled my enthusiasm some.

So what exactly is the

So what exactly is the difference in the type of food between poblanos and monterrey? I have been to a bunch of mex rest's in the area, most are the same food just different quality. Never been to poblanos. So I'm assuming since the same owner owns 2 different types, something must be different. Anyone know? My apologies for my mexican cuisine ignorance lol
