Tax protest tea party set for Saturday in Aiken

A tax protest tea party will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Alley in downtown Aiken. Participants are invited to bring folding chairs and homemade signs. The Alley is located between Laurens and Newberry streets off Richland Avenue.

Speakers will include: state representatives Jeff Duncan and Rex Rice, Vice-Chairman of State House Ways and Means Committee; state senators Shane Massey and Greg Ryberg; Richard Eckstrom, South Carolina Comptroller General; Aiken County Council and Aiken City Council members; members of the South Carolina Policy Council and Aiken County Taxpayers Association; Michael Ryan, editorial page editor for The Augusta Chronicle; and radio talk-show hosts Helen Blocker-Adams and Tony Powers. Radio station WNNR 1230-AM, a sponsor, will provide on-air coverage.

The event will include music and other entertainment.
