Unpublished

Hey ceewolfy...do you know the difference between over (there) and what belongs to them (their). Guess you missed homonym day in grade school, you idiot. If those countries choose to honor their dead who died in what they believed in, good for them, just as for the great state of Georgia. In every conquest there is a conqueror and a vanquished, yet the vanquished is no less noble for their efforts.

What day do they have set

What day do they have set aside for the revolutionary war? That was a noble cause. Vietnam is another noble cause. The confederacy did not have a noble cause. How many state workers do you think is going to spend the day off reflecting on the Confederate cause?.

The Confederate troops

The Confederate troops believed they had a noble cause and fought for it. That's enough for me to understand the reason for the holiday. Should we bash everyone for their ancestors who fought bravely for what they believed in even if we don't think it's right? Should we dishonor those Japanese and German soldiers who fought us in WWII and their families? Not all those people were bad people and not all of them were involved in heinous activities. It's time for all of us to show a little respect to each other instead of continuing to fight those wars with taunting and ridiculing.

The state is essentially
Unpublished

The state is essentially endorsing a corrupted ideology of bondage, free labor, and white supremacy which goes against the Constitution & Bill of Rights. Those elected minorities should feel foolish and ashame that Georgia, as a whole, has little respect for their ancestors. How can these minority elected officials not sponsor something that speaks against this abomination of history? Again, a complete failure on the part of elected minority officials and Uncle Remus would be proud knowing this legacy.

justus4-why do you think sony

justus4-why do you think sony perdue didn't put the 56 flag on the flag vote because he new that 85% of georgians were going to vote for it.mississippi still has theres and 48% of the blacks there voted for it.also april in georgia now is confederate history month by law .secession was legal nothing about it was against the law and texas can still secede to this day,and obama government can't do anything about it.other states are also looking at the law even northern states

Hey ceewolfy, glad you aren't my CPA, and the fact that you could pass English 101 reflects on the failure of the higher (and lower) education system. Independence Day honors the original American patriots, by the way, and if you don't like it here GO BACK NORTH!

ceewolfy....a friggin' bean counter....whoa, well whoop-de-do !
btw justus4,that word you are searching for is bondage, cute how you use a biblical term.....the fact is politicians started the damn war,and brave ,good men lost their lives fighting it because it was their duty.my ancestor was samuel owen stone, 16 th regiment, greenville,sc. survived.
never owned a slave, but fought to protect what he could-home,family,himself.
it is what it is, like it or lump it.
ps,uncle remus at least had a job justus4. and he told a pretty good story ,too.
long live the south !!! oh for the good ol' days.
magnolia blossoms, peach orchards, float fishing the rivers, cool shade trees, fresh lemonade with a touch of the hard stuff....barbecue on the ground, only thing missing is the low mumer of the field hands singing a stirring spiritual...

How quickly the uninformed

How quickly the uninformed jump to criticize. For your information, the state workers are overworked and underpaid. They are a special group who chose this profession not knowing that several governors (including Perdue) would deny them raises for years at a time. They have taken furlough days in an attempt to balance the budget. Don't scoff at a holiday well earned by these people until you have lived on their salaries!

if you know anything about

if you know anything about the 13 southern states during the civil war as you like to call it,only 4% of the people owned slaves and many of them were black slave owners.so what you are trying to blow up my bu-- is that my ancestors charged up hills and across fields under heavy cannon and musket fire for just the thought that they might own a black man one day.you have to be out of your mind.

drumbeater you fail to realize that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr stood for all men and women. The confederate was the birth of jim crow laws and the kkk to be later known as the national socialist movement.
