Investigator Grace Wittke said Allison Jontil Barnes, 24, of the 1900 block of Central Avenue was supposed to meet with deputies on Monday but never showed up.

Once detained, Ms. Barnes will be charged with deprivation of a minor after her child was discovered sitting on the side of the road and her apartment was discovered filled with filth.

A driver found Ms. Barnes’ daughter near their apartment on the shoulder of Central Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Monday, according to a sheriff’s report.

The driver contacted police, and officers began a door-to-door search for the child’s home. Officers located the apartment and found the home with no food in the refrigerator and the floor littered with food, dirty clothes and roaches, according to the report.

There was no one present at the home, and the back door was open. The child was released to her aunt.

Ms. Barnes is described as a black woman, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 230 pounds.

Anyone with information can contact Richmond County Criminal Investigations Department at (706) 821-1020.

How can any mother just walk

How can any mother just walk off and leave a 4 year old alone to fend for herself???? I hope the little girl has some decent relatives to live with or finds a good loving home because she sure needs it.

its easy as long as you

its easy as long as you didn't want him in the first place....relatives ny eye, most were probably products of the welfare/single parent environment that is destroying the black community from the inside...where is the father????, he should at the very least be named in the article, because i bet in one form or another she is probably receiving some type of public assistance and if so, the sorry father should be paying his child support or in jail one or the either

This makes it sound like mom

This makes it sound like mom is a monster. She may be one, but there's not enough information to tell yet. Let's all hope that she's okay, wherever she is...and that when she's found, there will be a good explanation and she'll turn out to be a fit parent after all.

How ghetto can she be. I take it she never have company over because they would have seen the house looking like that. She need her tubes tied. I cant believe this. Maybe the baby was leaving the house to find some food.

She may be missing, but she

She may be missing, but she may also be on the run if she was supposed to be meeting with deputies. The thing that worries me, though, is that she left without her child, normally most women will make sure their child is safe, even if they do run from the law. I guess that is why they are calling her missing rather than judging her to be on the run. Benefit of the doubt. I hope the toddler's needs are being met in the relatives care.

let's see she already has a

let's see she already has a mug shot...that makes her a convict mom, probably little or know education, absent father...gee this equation spells disaster for her child, if it's a girl then many babies out of wedlock, if it's a boy then he will be slinging drugs on the corner with "lysterine or la'quan" in about 8-10 years. it seems as the fugitive is a product of a single parent, why not place the baby in foster care and at least give it some type of chance to become a productive member of society....doesn anyone know what type of environment the child is placed in??? is it a stable household or just a household of a relative so eventually the sorry piece of crap mom can sneak over from time to time to see the child...if you think for one minute one or more relatives do not know where the mom is you are crazy or a fool...one or the orther or both

Ok folks...is fat the worst

Ok folks...is fat the worst thing she is?! I think not. This mama's got a little extra something that she didn't have 10 years ago but I'm still healthy, my husband and child are loved and cared for, all is well and I am blessed. Now, back to sistah here...you can be clean AND poor. No excuses for nastiness - even cats are smart enough to clean themselves and their offspring. If you can eat, and okay, she obviously does, you can cook, clean, and wash up. She either didn't receive any home-trainin' or it didn't take. Lots of folks out here want to adopt children. Hope this child goes to a loving home.
