Traffic stop leads to arrest

AIKEN - Aiken Public Safety officers said they arrested two men on drug and other charges today.

Police recovered more than $4,800, approximately 80 grams of crack cocaine and a 9mm handgun during a traffic stop at Plunkett Avenue and Rogers Terrace, Lt. David Turno said.

Ricky Ricardo Carter, 20, of Aiken is charged with failure to comply with a lawful order and illegal possession of a handgun, Lt. Turno said.

Derrick Ricardo Robinson, 31, of Augusta, is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana within half a mile of a school, resisting arrest, trafficking crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine within half a mile of a school, Lt. Turno said. Mr. Robinson is also being held on a Georgia fugitive warrant.
