A 32-year-old Aiken man has been extradited from North Carolina to face 20 sex charges that authorities say occurred over nearly a decade.

Marcus Antonio Mitchell, of the 1100 block of Chatfield Street, faces 10 charges of lewd act on a minor and 10 charges of criminal sexual conduct with minors dating from 1998 to 2007, according to arrest affidavits.

Aiken County sheriff’s Capt. Troy Elwell said he wasn’t sure where Mr. Mitchell was arrested on the charges in North Carolina, but he said he was extradited to the Aiken County Detention Center this past weekend. In all of the charges, Mr. Mitchell is accused of sex crimes involving an Aiken County girl.
