A burn victim from a south Georgia chemical fire is recovering this morning in Augusta's Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital.

The blaze occurred about 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Equinox Chemicals Plant in Albany.

A 37-year-old worker, Jason Pate, sustained second- and third-degree burns over 60 to 70 percent of his body.

Investigators said Mr. Pate was operating a machine when two gasket seals ruptured and ignited a tank filled with acetylene.

Company officials suspended production temporarily until they finish an internal investigation.

Did I miss something in the article uga? It doesn't say anything in the article about company cutbacks and I don't think that has anything to do with him getting injured. My prayers are with this man and his family.

sueboo418 is pretty negative.

sueboo418 is pretty negative. I understand what ugadawgbite is trying to say. Although the article does not state there were company cutbacks, usually, sueboo, and anyone who works knows this when companies cutback, they expect one person to do the job of two people, for half the pay, and things start getting missed, people start getting hurt.

I work next to this plant in Albany, came here looking for news on Jason's condition. Contrary to popular belief, this company is expanding! Please keep Jason and his family in your thoughts and prayers, and leave the politics out of it.
