Augusta will join other cities across the country Wednesday, Tax Day, to protest taxes and government spending with a tea party.

The Augusta Tax Day Tea Party will be held 5-10 p.m. at the Jessye Norman Amphitheater on Riverwalk.

Sponsored by the Columbia County Young Republicans, the Tea Party is meant as a protest to wasteful spending by congressional Democrats and the Obama administration, according to www.augustateaparty.org.

Idiots, Bush gave us a 1.3

Idiots, Bush gave us a 1.3 TRILLION dollar deficit when he gave the crybaby rich their tax breaks. You surely didn't protest then. He gave us a 10 billion a month war, and you didn't utter a peep. He gave us the worst economic situation since the Depression, and you blame Obama and Democrats. All this, and you scream about PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, while refusing to accept any. Life must be grand if you're a Republican...

Those crybaby rich are the

Those crybaby rich are the ones who write the checks to people employed by them. I have never been payed by a poor person. Wealth needs to be created in this country not destroyed but it would appear there are those who would lead us down the path to socialism or worse.

Take a look at this new Obama hire:

Change you can believe in!

Why want they have it in

Why want they have it in Columbia County LOL..., if it's being sponsored by the Columbia County young Republicans, then it should be in their county not Richmond County. Everybody wants to be important and take a part in something, These parties are borderline cults. I'm still praying.

George W. Bush was no fiscal

George W. Bush was no fiscal conservative. He betrayed Barry Goldwater's party when he wrecked the economy and then whipped out the credit card. Where was all this outrage when Bush was in power? The Chronicle and the rest of the right wing were on the sidelines preaching unfettered free market capitalism as the road to salvation. Now that the economy is in bad shape the right wing wants to pound Obama and the Democrats for the mess their guy left. Face the facts, George W was the worst President since Hoover and history will judge him accordingly.

Bush was fiscally

Bush was fiscally irresponsible, but folks, the prez doesn't do anything, not much really, alone...there were a majority of Democrats right there handing him the pen. Yes, I too have never gotten a paycheck from a poor person. Lots of folks may hate the "evil" rich...I for one, am glad to get a paycheck from one each month. And he is not exactly what I would call "rich".

The only idiots are the ones

The only idiots are the ones who got so mad at Bush for spending or so scared about the burp in the economy that they crossed the lines and voted for Obama and got someone who is ten times as bad as Bush with the spending and a marxist/socialist to boot. But at least now they are starting to come out of their anger/fear driven stupor and see the light. If they were nevous about their standard of living when the economy took a little hit they are going to be really scared in four years when they wake up in a third world country being run like a South American dictatorship. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the ruling Junta are well on their way to turning this country from a capitalist Republic into a socialist dictatorship. I don't know about other folks but I am not ready to be told what I can eat, what I can drive, what I can smoke, how much money I can make, and how much I can heat of cool my house. All controlled by their favorite word....TAXES. That is where the Democrats are taking us and I hope people wake up and see it coming in time. Not only do I support the Tea Party, I support a full blown revolution if needed to keep this country a free Republic.

I could be wrong; but I think this Tea Party on the Riverwalk will be over before 8 PM. I've never known a Young Republican to be in downtown Augusta after dark.

Where were the tea partys

Where were the tea partys when Bush was in office? By the way trisciut, the GOP was in control from 2000-2006. The base was upset with the spending and stayed home in 2006.

Bush was so terrible with his

Bush was so terrible with his spending we elected someone who doubled what Bush spent in 8 years in his first two months. Look how smart we are. I sure hope Obama spends this much every two months he's in office so I'll vote for someone who will spend twice as much , in their first two months, as Obama spends in his entire 4 years. Boy, am I smart? Guess what party I belong to.

Dems, your Bush derangement

Dems, your Bush derangement syndrome may have blinded you to the fact that YOUR party is in control now and YOUR president/annointed one is planning to spend more money than every other president of the last 100 years COMBINED. You can't blame W for that. Bush spent too much money and was fiscally irresponsible. Your party is 1000 times worse and is proving it daily.

It is sad that the Republican

It is sad that the Republican Party wants to hijack a movement that is against the mammoth government of both parties.

Bush was the worst President in U.S. History, but Obama seems to want that "worst ever" crown enough to snatch it away.

The Tea Parties should be just as much as anti-Republican as they are anti-democrat.

This country has just about been destroyed by the insanity of both parties.

It is shameful that reformers cannot even have a demonstration without one of the ruinous parties butting in.

I want a counter-protest.

I want a counter-protest. The country is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, and the Republicans are demanding tax cuts. Meanwhile, the Democrats are raising spending for the social programs. Somebody needs to tell them all there is no tax fairy. The sad truth is that we need to INCREASE taxes and DECREASE spending. If this country is to survive, we need some responsible political party to take over. It isn't the Republicans or Democrats.

Posted by cockytiger on Mon Apr 13, 2009 *** How many of those years was prezbho part of the problem, since he was in the senate? The dims have been in control for over 2 years now and look at the disaster they have brought us. A trillion here - trillion there with absolutely NO plan on how this will be paid back. Talk about HYPOCRITES. dims have a double standard and are perfectly fine with it.

GaCopperhead has been

GaCopperhead has been drinking the Obama flavored Kool-Aid, that's for sure. "The worst economy since the depression"? Far from it! You Democrats sure like to forget about Jimmy Carter with his 12% unemployment rates, 15% and higher mortgage and interest rates, runaway inflation and gasoline prices higher than today (adjusted for inflation). You also like to forget that the first six years of the Bush administration were GREAT. Record low unemployment, record high stock markets and record low interest / mortgage rates.....And then along came Pelosi and Reid and it all went to hell in two short years. Those are FACTS. But then Democrats ALL have extreme allergies to facts............

Teabag yourselves idiots. The

Teabag yourselves idiots. The dolts who will attend this teabagging are getting a tax cut. It's the rich organizers who will see a whopping 3-4.9% tax increase on their upper income levels (still lower than what it was most of the time under saint ronnie). They have once again led the idiot sheeple to the most lunatic "protest" in the history of the US. The rest of the nation sees this for the comical farce it is and are reminded why they threw the CONServative nuts out and will never vote for one again.

those of you who favor

those of you who favor increased taxes can just cut out the middleman: send your excess money to me and i promise to re-invest in America (i.e. spend the money frivolously) as soon as i get it. i mean, isn't that what the gov't would do with the money anyway - oh, i forgot, we call frivolous gov't spending "social programs" or "infrastructure investments" so it sounds better. you'd honestly be better off sending your money to me: i'd look better in a fancy car or a dream home than pelosi or reid.

If we stop all the free

If we stop all the free handouts we would not be in nearly the mess we are......sorry people get off your behinds get a job and be productive citizens instead of sitting around waiting for your next governement handout check. Secure our borders stop selling America to foreigners. Stop blaming one party, they are all to blame..........one party did not create all this mess, both parties did because they don't know how to work as one for the betterment of this country.

Glad to see some folks don't

Glad to see some folks don't have to work to make a living and they have time (WEDNESDAY) to show it. I for one will be too tired to protest and we don't make enough for the wife to skip cooking and therefore can't go out to eat. But again I am glad some folks are well off enough to spend the day protesting.
