Red knocks off Black in G-Day game dominated by defenses

ATHENS, Ga. -- Andrew Jensen's 48-yard field goal in the fourth quarter gave the Red team the lead and Carlton Thomas scored the game's only touchdown in the final seconds to give the Red a 13-3 win over the Black team in Georgia's G-Day spring football game on Saturday at Sanford Stadium.

Joe Cox, bidding to take over as Georgia's starting quarterback, set up Jensen's kick with a 22-yard pass to tight end Aron White on a third-and-20 play.

Blair Walsh gave the Red team a 3-0 lead with a 51-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Jamie Lindley answered with a 25-yarder for the Black team later in the second quarter. Logan Gray completed passes of 15 and 21 yards to Derek Rich in the drive.

The annual game wrapping up Georgia's spring practice was nationally televised by ESPN.
