A Glenn Hills High School student is in jail tonight charged with carrying a weapon on school property.

Students told police they saw the butt of a shotgun in the backseat of Theodore Carthen’s Chevrolet Caprice around 1:30 p.m. at Glenn Hills High, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s report. Mr. Carthen, 17, of the 3700 block of King’s Gate Drive, Hephzibah, was sitting in the vehicle when the students saw the gun.

Richmond County Board of Education officers removed a 12 gauge shotgun and shotgun shells from Mr. Carthen’s vehicle.
