THOMSON -- A fatal wreck involving two 18-wheelers and another vehicle near Thomson has been cleared and traffic is moving more smoothly on Interstate 20 after several hours of delays.

McDuffie County Coroner Rhusha Mack said the accident killed Vincent Harvert, 45, of Black Hawk, S.D., a trucker.

A specialized accident reconstruction team arrived at the site just before 5 p.m. and stayed more than two hours.

Witnesses said it appeared Mr. Harvert had stopped his truck to inspect a tire when his vehicle was struck by another 18-wheeler. Another vehicle became involved when it was struck by debris.
