Medical College of Georgia President Daniel W. Rahn has been appointed the next Chancellor of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Dr. Rahn was recommended by University of Arkansas System President B. Alan Sugg and approved by the system’s Board of Trustees in a special called meeting.

Dr. Rahn said no start date has been set and that the University of Arkansas System board and President B. Alan Sugg have told him they will be flexible about when he actually comes on board. There are number of projects at Medical College of Georgia, such as finalizing funding for the new building for the School of Dentistry and firming up plans for new student housing, that he wants to complete before he goes to Little Rock.

“There are a number of things that I really want to see through to finish well in my current position,” Dr. Rahn said in a telephone interview this afternoon. “And then have a smooth transition as the search goes forward for the next president at MCG.”

Dr. Rahn had been president of MCG since 2001. As with other research university presidential searches, University System of Georgia officials will form a search committee of students, faculty, staff and members of the Board of Regents and will use an executive search firm to conduct a national search for a replacement.

Rahn got tired of Sonny and

Rahn got tired of Sonny and the UGA Mafia cutting the funding to MCG and then going full speed ahead to develop the Medical School on the UGA campus. He was also told to publicly say it was a great idea regardless of the fact that it is an expensive waste of Georgia taxpayers' money. All because Micheal Adams has an inferiority complex when it comes to UGA vs. UNC Chapel Hill. Oh, and there was this free federal land in Athens available, but you had to promise to do something "good" with it.

Realize a dramatic conflict

Realize a dramatic conflict between UGA and MCG erupted with the person named to head the new MCG-Athens school not long ago. Dr. Rahn wanted someone else, yet his advice was not followed. He did fight back to no avail. Trying to be kind as possible to Dr. Rahn, he may have underestimated the intentions of UGA when the second medical school was floated. Some tried to warn him and the rest of the state what the outcome would be. I'm sure he feels the dagger in the back. Peace to Dr. Rahn.

That's kind of a tough

That's kind of a tough charge, Joe. If you are talking about ET, I'd like to get into exactly what the claim was that resulted in the conclusion that less than the truth was being used. We can use all types of adjectives to describe the same action.
