Student charged in shaver assault

BAMBERG, S.C. — A South Carolina high school student has been charged with assault for cutting another student with an eyebrow shaver.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported today that a 16-year-old girl at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High cut a 15-year-old boy above his elbow with the razor's edge of the shaver.

Principal Randy Maxwell called the Thursday incident horseplay that turned into a serious mistake. He said the girl cut the other student after losing her temper. He said the boy required several stitches.

Maxwell said the girl was expelled following a hearing and cannot return for the rest of the school year.
